Things to Consider

Location Location! If you are looking for commercial space our online Available Lands Database provides a list of all current for sale and for lease commercial and industrial units and property.

Have you acquired your Business License yet?  All businesses in the Town of Smiths Falls are required to have a business license whether home based or brick and mortar. Once acquired, you can plan your grand opening event, and town staff will coordinate for the Mayor and council members to attend.

Will you be doing any renovations or repairs? A Building Permit Application is required prior to any work being done, if you have any questions please contact building@smithsfalls.ca or 613-283-4124 x 1132 and they will be happy to assist you.

Sign Permits are required for all businesses, including home based businesses.

If your location permits, and you wish to have a patio in the summer you will need to complete a Sidewalk Lease Agreement.
