Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Smiths Falls and the surrounding area, beginning today, June 17th. Dangerously hot and humid conditions are expected through most of the week.

Old Home Week 2025, a celebration that is held every 25 years, is just around the corner on August 2-9, 2025. It all started in 1925 with an invitation to past residents to come home for a week of festivities and reunions. It was repeated in 1950, 1976, and 2000. On May 30th, from 5-7 pm, the Town of Smiths Falls Municipal Heritage Committee hosted a Public Information Centre in the Town Hall's Welcome Centre to gather comments and suggestions from residents and businesses alike about the Downtown Core Heritage Conservation District Study (HCD) currently underway. New Inclusion Corner in the Downtown

With the refresh of the pride crosswalks, a new pink bench has been installed at the corner of Beckwith and Church Street as part of a new inclusion corner within the downtown.
The colour pink was chosen as it is a recognized colour for anti-bullying across Canada. Pink Shirt Day began in 2007 when two students stood up against homophobic bullying after a new student was harassed for wearing pink. They distributed pink shirts to classmates, and the movement has since spread.
