Smiths Falls CIP Grant Application Intake Is Now Open

Smiths Falls, ON – The Town of Smiths Falls is now accepting application submissions under the Smiths Falls Community Improvement Plan until March 31st.

“Council and staff have worked hard over the past several years to understand the challenges both our citizens and businesses face in our community,” said Mayor Shawn Pankow.“Through these key programs we are taking action to encourage improvements in accessibility, enable growth and beautification within our business sector and improve the quality of life for our citizens. Council is eager to play a role in the development of affordable housing and by investing $100,000 to support and leverage private investments in Smiths Falls, we are confident the CIP will make a difference.”

The following programs are available for application:

  • Program 1: Exterior Universal Accessibility Improvement Program
  • Program 2: Interior Universal Accessibility Improvement Program
  • Program 4: Attainable Housing Building Permit Fee and Planning Application Fee Rebate
  • Program 6: Attainable Housing Additional Residential Unit (ARU) Rebate
  • Program 7: Attainable Housing and Universal Accessibility Co-Application
  • Program 8: Brownfield Environmental Site Assessment Rebate
  • Program 10: Brownfield Building Permit Fee and Planning Application Fee Rebate
  • Program 11: Brownfield Development Charge Deferral Program
  • Program 13: Front, Side, and Rear façade Improvement Rebate
  • Program 14: Building Restoration, Renovation, and Improvement Program
  • Program 15: Downtown and Waterfront Area Revitalization and Universal Accessibility Co-Application

“The Town of Smiths Falls is investing in businesses, new development and attainable housing. These grants and financial incentives will assist in supporting local business retention and expansion, downtown beautification, accessibility improvements, while also supporting redevelopment of underutilized areas and more diverse local housing stock.” said Julia Crowder, Manager of Economic Development and Tourism.

Those interested in learning if their project is eligible for funding are encouraged to reach out to planning staff as soon as possible. Should funds remain available following this application intake period, a second intake period will be opened for further applications. An additional intake period will be announced by the Town if available.
