
WHEREAS every worker has the right to return home safe and sound at the end of each workday; and
WHEREAS the Town of Smiths Falls honours the millions of Ontarians impacted by a workplace fatality, injury or illness;
WHEREAS April 28th is observed across Canada and in countries around the world as the National Day of Mourning for workers killed, injured, disabled, or suffer disease as a result of work; and
WHEREAS the Town of Smiths Falls recognizes the importance of Health and Safety education through the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
WHEREAS, by working together - with employers, workers and health and safety partners, we can prevent injuries and deaths to workers before they occur.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that I, Shawn Pankow, Mayor of the Town of Smiths Falls, do hereby proclaim April 28th, 2025 as National Day of Mourning in the Town of Smiths Falls.
