WHEREAS mental health is an essential part of everyone's health and wellbeing;

WHEREAS all people in Canada need to promote, protect and nurture their mental health; and

WHEREAS promoting social connection is an important aspect of human life and an effective way to protect mental health; and

WHEREAS the theme for Mental Health Week 2025 is "Unmasking Mental Health"; and

WHEREAS living with mental health challenges often forces people to hide behind a "mask" to protect themselves from judgement and discrimination.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that I, Shawn Pankow, Mayor of the Town of Smiths Falls hereby proclaims the week of May 5th to May 11th, 2025, as MENTAL HEALTH WEEK in the Town of Smiths Falls. I encourage all
citizens to encourage people across Canada to look beyond the surface and see the whole person.
