The Town of Smiths Falls is pleased to announce the official ribbon cutting of the community’s new Water Tower, marking a major milestone in strengthening and modernizing the Town’s water infrastructure.

This significant project was made possible in part through funding from the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program Green Infrastructure Funding Stream. The Federal Government contributed 2,000,000 dollars, and the Province of Ontario contributed 1,666,500 dollars toward the construction of the new tower.

The Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program is one way the Government of Canada supports communities through the broader Investing in Canada Plan. The program supports clean water and environmental protection, helps communities become more resilient and vibrant, and ensures Canadians have access to modern, reliable services that improve quality of life.

The Town’s new Water Tower represents a major step forward in ensuring safe, reliable water service for current and future residents. This modern structure will help strengthen water pressure across the community, support future development needs, and improve emergency water supply and fire protection capabilities.

Mayor Shawn Pankow acknowledged the importance of this investment, noting that the project showcases how collaboration between municipal, provincial and federal partners directly supports the community’s long-term growth and resilience.

The Town of Smiths Falls extends its appreciation to all residents for their patience and support throughout the construction process. More updates on ongoing and future infrastructure improvements will be shared as projects progress, as the Town continues to invest in systems that support the health, safety and vitality of the community.
