The Smiths Falls Heritage House Museum invites you to take in the sights and sounds of the holidays at 11 Old Slys Road.

On December 7, the Holiday Heritage House welcomes you to explore the museum as it would be dressed up for a Victorian Christmas. Running from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, you will find magical horse-drawn wagon rides, a special jolly old soul dressed in red and white, period actors in costume, baked treats and warm drinks, children’s crafts and some good old-fashioned holiday cheer. The entry fee is a donation to the museum and wagon rides will once again be free. Please come equipped with a festive attitude and a twinkle in your eyes.

The Smiths Falls Heritage House Museum Annual Art Show will be on display in the museum’s galleries until Saturday, December 20. The show features a variety of mediums and art from Smiths Falls and area artists. Celebrate local art as expressed through the visions of your neighbours.

On Thursday, December 11, the museum invites the community to tour through the beautifully decorated Victorian home lit by candlelight for our Candlelit Christmas. Take a guided tour from a period actor dressed in costume and learn of the many Victorian Christmas traditions and their origins. Tours will take place between 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm, a perfect time to see the cozy candlelight. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for youth ages 5-12 and free for ages 4 and under.

The museum will have a special mailbox set up outside for residents to drop off letters to Santa. The mailbox is located on the front deck of the museum and each letter received from November 21 to December 8 will receive a personalized message from Santa.

The museum will be open Wednesday to Friday, 10:30 am to 4:30 pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with wares from local artisans occupying the gift shop. Entry will be by donation for the rest of the year.
