The Town of Smiths Falls is pleased to announce that StructureCraft will be lifting the new Timber Bridge into place on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

Using a 450-ton crane, StructureCraft will hoist the preassembled Timber Bridge onto the new concrete abutments beginning at approximately 11:00 a.m. Residents are welcome to attend outside of the perimeter construction fencing to witness this monumental occasion as this new landmark begins to take shape in Smiths Falls.

At this stage, the bridge is partially assembled to remain within the allowable weight limits for safe hoisting. Once the structure is secured in place, additional construction work will continue over the next month to complete the bridge.

Remaining work will include, but is not limited to:

  • Placement and installation of wood deck panels
  • Installation of the steel roof system
  • Electrical lighting system installation
  • Field stone capping of the concrete pedestals
  • Hard surfacing of bridge approaches and final landscaping

The overall project is anticipated to be completed later in November.

“This is an exciting milestone for Smiths Falls,” said Mayor Shawn Pankow. “The new Timber Bridge will not only serve as important infrastructure but also as a beautiful landmark that reflects our community’s pride, craftsmanship, and connection to the natural environment.”

The Town of Smiths Falls thanks residents for their continued patience and cooperation as this project nears completion. For further information, please contact Paul McMunn at pmcmunn@smithsfalls.ca.
