Heritage House Museum Announces Remarkable Women of Smiths Falls Traveling Exhibit

Smiths Falls, ON – The Smiths Falls Heritage House Museum is excited to announce the opening of the Remarkable Women of Smiths Falls traveling exhibit, beginning on March 1, 2023.

In July of 2022, the Museum hosted Remarkable Women of Smiths Falls exhibit and celebrated 28 women who have lived or worked in Smiths Falls and have made positive contributions to the community. This event showcases the achievements and lives of exceptional women that make up the Smiths Falls community.

This year the Museum has coordinated with the Smiths Falls Downtown Business Association and Saumure Group to feature the panels from the exhibit in public locations throughout Smiths Falls for the month of March, in honour of International Women’s Day on March 8th. The women featured in this exhibit live, work or are involved in the Smiths Falls community and have been chosen and nominated by the public for their service to the community.

“The Town of Smiths Falls has thrived over the years thanks to the immense contribution of the women in our community,” said Councillor Jay Brennan. “I am delighted that Heritage House Museum has given the community a platform to recognise, honour and celebrate the Remarkable Women of Smiths Falls”.

The exhibit panels will be on display throughout several locations in Town until March 31, 2023. The locations are Settlers Ridge Mall, C’est Tout Bakery, Bone Appetit! Pet Company, Salon Aurora, Gemmell’s Flowers, Modern Thymes Health & Bulk Foods, Strands, Special Greetings, Elizabeth Interiors, Beautiful Full Figure Boutique, The Craft Witch, The Cozy Cottage Gift Shop, Willow & Co., Yarns Aplenty, Michele’s Doorway to Splendor, The Vault Eatery & Pub, Blue Door Spa, Arile’s Books, The Art’s Hub, Buck or Two Plus and Great Waterway Hearing.

The Heritage House Museum will be accepting nominations to be featured in future Remarkable Women of Smiths Falls celebrations. If you know a Remarkable Woman from Smiths Falls, past or present, who has had a positive influence locally, nationally or internationally throughout any time period; the museum would like to hear about them.
