Electronic Building Permit Application Portal – Now Available!

The Town of Smiths Falls has officially launched the electronic building permit application portal.

The Town has revamped the building permit process to enable residents, contractors and developers to submit complete applications through a secure online portal.

Through the building permit portal, users will be able to:

• Submit building and demolition permit applications online 24/7;
• Upload all required drawings and relevant documentation for their construction project;
• Easily access, check and track the status of their application;
• Request and/or submit changes to their building permit; and,
• Access documents related to their building projects.

“This new streamlined digital application tool will make it easier on applicants applying for permits and Town staff who administer the process,” said Mayor Shawn Pankow. “The modernization of this service will enhance the customer experience making the process more pleasant for users.”

The new portal includes prompts throughout to help ensure users include and upload all the required information, drawings and documentation.. These prompts are intended to ensure building permit applications are as complete as possible upon submission in order to avoid delays in the administration process. Received applications directly integrate with the Town’s permitting system and will significantly speed up the administrative processing and intake of applications.

“Building staff are confident that the new online building permit submission portal will create efficiencies in the permitting process and allow staff to maintain processing targets,” said Chief Building Official Andrew Willows.
