  • New Official Plan

    The Town has begun work on its new Official Plan, which will set the stage for planning the growth and evolution of our community for the next 25 years. The Official Plan will determine where the Town focuses key initiatives such as new housing developments, business parks, road, water and sewer infrastructure, trails, bike lanes, parks, and community centres.

  • 2024 Heritage Symposium

    The Smiths Falls Municipal Heritage Committee is proud to announce the return of its annual Heritage Symposium on Monday, October 28th, 2024 at The Station Theatre (53 Victoria Avenue) from 9 AM to 3 PM.

    The Heritage Symposium focuses on expanding the local community’s knowledge of heritage preservation and the importance of heritage protection within the community.

  • Youth Arena Feasibility Study Survey

    Through a third-party consulting firm (Nustadia Recreation), the Town of Smiths Falls is conducting a feasibility study concerning the future direction for the Youth Arena. The survey is anonymous, and individual responses will be kept confidential.

  • Rideau Artist of the Year Competition 2024

    The Smiths Falls Heritage Museum invites artists and the public along the Canal in beautiful Centennial and Murphy Parks for some breathtaking new views, closer to downtown Smiths Falls on September 7th and 8th. Artists will create an original work of art that captures the beauty of the Rideau Canal and surrounding area in Smiths Falls.

  • 2024 Road Construction

    The Town of Smiths Falls awarded Contract 24-PW-011 for the Milling of Asphalt, Grading, Hot Mix Paving and Miscellaneous Concrete & Rehabilitation to Thomas Cavanagh Construction Limited. Construction will be taking place between August 6th and September 30th, 2024.

    The Town of Smiths Falls is dedicated to reaffirming its commitment to reconciliation and fostering strong community relationships with all residents including members of our Indigenous community. In light of the cancellation of the 2024 Spirit of the Drum Pow Wow, we understand the importance of addressing the community directly and transparently.

  • Pedestrian Foot Path Questionnaire

    The Town of Smiths Falls is engaging residents to participate in a brief online questionnaire to determine the usage of the pedestrian foot path that is located directly underneath the Canadian Pacific Rail tracks that joins Victoria Ave and Anne St.

    Town staff have been in communication with Canadian Pacific Railway, the owner of the subway, to discuss the concerns brought forward by residents within the community about its condition and how to improve the passageway in the future.
