The Town of Smiths Falls is committed to providing a professional level of by-law enforcement service. The primary goals of the Town's by-law enforcement are:
- Public safety
- Protection of residents' peaceful enjoyment of their property
- Improvement of the overall appearance of the community
- Improvement of quality of life for residents
Enforcement is conducted on both a proactive and reactive basis but our first approach in enforcement work is education. Wherever possible, staff work with residents to resolve violations by achieving compliance, ensuring that steps are taken to resolve the initial violation. At The Town of Smiths Falls, we understand the vital role pets play in our families and in our community. The Town’s Animal Control and By-law Department is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all pets and community members. Our Animal Control Services focus on addressing concerns related to lost, stray and nuisance companion animals, as well as promoting responsible pet ownership in our community.
The Town of Smiths Falls animal control regulations are based on the Town’s Animal Control By-law No. 8856-2016.
