WHEREAS since 1998, March 5th has been recognized as World Energy Efficiency Day;
AND WHEREAS World Energy Efficiency Day aims to raise awareness of the need to reduce energy consumption through reasonable energy use;
AND WHEREAS finding ways to avoid energy waste - electricity, gas, water - is critical in the fight against climate change as it contributes to emitting less carbon and methane into the atmosphere;

Pink Shirt Day 2025WHEREAS Pink Shirt Day is observed annually on the last Wednesday of February to raise awareness of anti-bullying efforts while calling attention to the prevalence of bullying in our communities; and
WHEREAS Pink Shirt Day was inspired by two high school students in Nova Scotia who distributed pink shirts at their school as a show of support for another student who was being bullied for wearing a pink shirt; and

Fire Reported at Smiths Falls Public Works GarageOn February 21, 2025 the Smiths Falls Fire Department responded to a call at the Smiths Falls Public Works Garage on Air Care Drive. Upon arrival, it was confirmed that there was a large fire located within the Public Works Garage.

Media Release: Facilities ClosureDue to the Winter Storm Warning issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada, all Town facilities, which include Town Hall, the Memorial Community Centre (closed until 2 PM only to accommodate afternoon/evening programming) and the Child Development Centres (including the before/after programming) will be closed on Thursday, February 13, 2025.
