  • 2024 Veteran Banner Program

    To commemorate this year’s Remembrance Day, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 95 in partnership with the Town of Smiths Falls and the Downtown Business Association are proud to launch the Annual Veteran Banner Program that will honour and remember local veterans who willingly served or gave their lives in service to Canada and continue to stand for our freedom. 

    Installation will begin on October 8th, and the banners will be displayed until after Remembrance Day.

    Female arrested –Breach:

    On September 17th, 2024, the Smiths Falls Police Service made an arrest of a 33-year-old female stemming from an investigation related to breach of recognizance of bail conditions for previous IPV charges. 

    The accused was arrested without incident and was released from police custody on a Form 10 Undertaking with a court date to answer to his charge.

    The Smiths Falls Heritage House Museum is pleased to announce the winners of the 2024 Rideau Artist of the Year Competition. Almost 40 area artists braved the weather on September 7th & 8th in this en plein air competition.

  • Seniors for Climate Day 2024

    WHEREAS October 1st is Canada's National Seniors' Day and the UN International Day of Older Persons. It is a day to recognize the accomplishments and contributions of seniors.

  • 2024 Photo Contest "Hit Me With Your Best Shot"

    The Town of Smiths Falls is excited to launch the 2024 “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” photo contest that aims to collect the 12 best photos of Smiths Falls for the 2025 Municipal Calendar.

    The 12 photos are selected through an evaluation process by the Economic Development and Tourism department and the photographers of the 12 shots will each receive $50 in Downtown Dollars as well as photo credit in the Municipal Calendar.

  • New Official Plan

    The Town has begun work on its new Official Plan, which will set the stage for planning the growth and evolution of our community for the next 25 years. The Official Plan will determine where the Town focuses key initiatives such as new housing developments, business parks, road, water and sewer infrastructure, trails, bike lanes, parks, and community centres.

  • 2024 Heritage Symposium

    The Smiths Falls Municipal Heritage Committee is proud to announce the return of its annual Heritage Symposium on Monday, October 28th, 2024 at The Station Theatre (53 Victoria Avenue) from 9 AM to 3 PM.

    The Heritage Symposium focuses on expanding the local community’s knowledge of heritage preservation and the importance of heritage protection within the community.
