On the 6th of July 2024 Smiths Falls Police had responded to a disturbance on Helen St. Upon arrival, officers were confronted by a male who broke into his neighbours’ house.

Smiths Falls Police Services Board Appoint Police ChiefEffective July 3, 2024, the Smiths Falls Police Services Board would like to formally announce the appointment of Jodi Empey as Police Chief for the Town of Smiths Falls.
A veteran member, Chief Empey joined the Smiths Falls Police Service as a recruit in 1994 and continued to move up the ranks throughout her 30-year career in Smiths Falls.

On the 27th of June 2024 Smiths Falls Police with the assistance of the OPP CSCU team executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act Warrant at a residence on Lanark St.
Smiths Falls Police commenced their investigation in early April dubbing the night time project as “Project Owl” as part of the CISO (Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario) investigative grant that Smiths Falls Police were granted to target drug traffickers within the community.

On the 26th of June 2024 shortly after 6 AM, Smiths Falls Police responded to a residence on William St E in regards to a disturbance. Upon taking a male in custody, the male refused to exit the residence and indicated he had a firearm.

On June 5 2024, the Smiths Falls Police Service responded with ambulance to a Broadview Avenue address regarding a female with injuries. Upon arrival, it was evident to the officers that the female had sustained injuries during a domestic dispute.

On May 24 2024, 26 year old Jeffrey HAMILTON of no fixed address was arrested on outstanding warrants. HAMILTON was wanted in relation to a residential break and enter which took place on Gladstone Avenue on May 9th 2024.

On May 10th 2024, the Smiths Falls Police Service responded to an Abbott St address for a wellbeing check on a male party. As a result of the investigation the male party was arrested for possession of a quantity of drugs under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
