Unknown Male Assaults Female At Her Residence

On the 22^nd of July 2024 police responded to an assault that was reported after the fact. A female reported that on the 20^th of July 2024, she was sitting on her front porch on William St E when a male went up onto her porch and pulled her off and assaulted her physically unprovoked.

Male out on Bail Twice in Two Days Continues to Commit Offences

On the 6^th of July 2024 Smiths Falls Police had responded to a disturbance on Helen St. Upon arrival, officers were confronted by a male who broke into his neighbours’ house.

Effective July 3, 2024, the Smiths Falls Police Services Board would like to formally announce the appointment of Jodi Empey as Police Chief for the Town of Smiths Falls.

A veteran member, Chief Empey joined the Smiths Falls Police Service as a recruit in 1994 and continued to move up the ranks throughout her 30-year career in Smiths Falls.

Controlled Drug and Substance Act Warrant Executed:

On the 27^th of June 2024 Smiths Falls Police with the assistance of the OPP CSCU team executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act Warrant at a residence on Lanark St.

Smiths Falls Police commenced their investigation in early April dubbing the night time project as “Project Owl” as part of the CISO  (Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario) investigative grant that Smiths Falls Police were granted to target drug traffickers within the community.

Barricaded Person arrested safely

 On the 26th of June 2024 shortly after 6 AM, Smiths Falls Police responded to a residence on William St E in regards to a disturbance. Upon taking a male in custody, the male refused to exit the residence and indicated he had a firearm.

Arson Investigation

On the 9^th of June 2024 Smiths Falls Police attended a residence on Smiths Falls Avenue after a report of a fully engulfed fire. Smiths Falls Police and Smiths Falls Fire Service commenced an investigation into the cause of the fire with Ontario Fire Marshall’s office.

AMBULANCE ASSIST CALL LEADS TO CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION

On June 5 2024, the Smiths Falls Police Service responded with ambulance to a Broadview Avenue address regarding a female with injuries. Upon arrival, it was evident to the officers that the female had sustained injuries during a domestic dispute.

FEMALE WANTED FOR MULTIPLE SHOPLIFTING INCIDENTS

 39 year old Brandee DOUGHERTY of Smiths Falls is currently wanted for four counts of Theft Under $5000, Breach of Release Order and Fail to Comply with Probation (see photo below). If you know DOUGHERTY’s current whereabouts please contact the Smiths Falls Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
