Media Release: Big Art Gallery
The Smiths Falls Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the opening of The Big Art Gallery, a pop-up art gallery located at 25 Beckwith Street North, next to Boomtown Fusion Eatery in the heart of downtown Smiths Falls. The gallery will be open throughout July and August, offering residents and visitors a unique opportunity to experience and acquire original works by talented local artists.
The Big Art Gallery was created by the Smiths Falls Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Smiths Falls Business Association, with the support of the Town of Smiths Falls. The gallery reflects a shared commitment to celebrating local creativity, activating the downtown core, and building a vibrant cultural destination in our community.
The gallery will launch with a series of special events designed to welcome the community:
• Soft launch on Canada Day, July 1, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM
• Open Thursday, July 2, and Friday, July 3, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
• Vernissage, Friday, July 3, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM
Following the opening events, the gallery will then operate on its regular schedule: Wednesday through Sunday, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, for the duration of July and August.
The Big Art Gallery will feature a curated selection of works by local artists each month, with pieces available for purchase. The intake for artist submissions is closed for July, but submissions for August are being accepted until July 10, 2026. Submissions can be sent to info@smithsfallschamber.ca.
The Big Art Gallery will also be a featured destination in the upcoming Big Art Walk & Rideau Artist of the Year en plein air event, taking place in downtown Smiths Falls on Friday, July 25, 2026. Tickets are available online at experiencesmithsfalls.ca for $10 and include a commemorative tote bag and three postcards featuring artwork by local artists, plus an entry to win an original piece by celebrated local artist Leah Hicks.
The Smiths Falls Chamber of Commerce warmly invites all residents, families, and visitors to come
downtown and experience The Big Art Gallery this summer. Supporting local art means supporting
our community, and there has never been a better reason to explore what makes Smiths Falls such a
special place to live, work, and visit.
