Smiths Falls Police onto Year 3 of the Community Safety and Policing Grant
Between April 2022-March 2025, Smiths Falls Police received funding from the Provincial Government regarding a Local and Provincial Community Safety and Policing Grant. Through the grant funding, eligible police services were provided with funding to support the implementation of public safety and community policing initiatives such as community outreach programs, human trafficking and guns and gangs violence. Now in year 3, 2024-2025, Smiths Falls Police were allocated partial funds to cover the Community Services Officers’ salary portion to a total of close to $70,000 annually. The Service also is working collaboratively partnering with Lanark County Interval House Victim Advocate and Lanark County Victim Services who received funds to do public Human Trafficking Campaigns, Hate Crime Campaigns and training for officers relating to Human Trafficking and Hate Crime.
We continue to be thankful for these grant opportunities to further enhance and support a safer community.
