Media Release: Town Reaffirms Drinking Water is Safe

The Town of Smiths Falls wishes to reassure residents that the community's drinking water is safe and continues to meet all provincial drinking water standards. The Town remains committed to transparency and providing residents with accurate information regarding local water quality. This message is consistent with the Town's previous public updates (September 19, 2025, October 2, 2025) affirming the safety of the municipal drinking water supply.

We understand that residents care deeply about the safety of their drinking water. Anyone with questions, concerns, or an interest in learning more is encouraged to contact Andrew MacNaughton, Manager of Water and Wastewater at amacnaughton@smithsfalls.ca. Mr. MacNaughton and his staff are happy to answer questions and discuss the Town's water treatment and testing processes. The Town believes that open dialogue and transparency are essential, and we welcome the opportunity to speak directly with residents and businesses to discuss the facts.

Residents are encouraged to visit the Town’s website for more information on water quality reports and the rigorous environmental compliance processes municipalities in Ontario must meet.
