Local Students Help Promote SF as a Place to Visit
Ms. Pinch’s Grade 5/6 class at Duncan J. Schoular Public School has created a tourism marketing website to showcase local attractions Smiths Falls has to offer.
The digital guide www.exploresmithsfalls.com features various Smiths Falls sites chosen by the class. Students researched the locations and recorded engaging scripts to make their story come to life via animated characters.
“It has been so exciting to see this project come to life! Students were incredibly engaged throughout the process and enjoyed learning about and sharing their hometown” said Ms. Pinch.
The class presented their work to Mayor and Council at last night’s Committee of the Whole meeting.
“It’s exciting to see the pride they had in presenting their project and we are proud of what these young students have been able to accomplish”, noted Mayor Shawn Pankow.
In support of the students, the Town of Smiths Falls will include a link to the interactive guide on the Town’s Tourism Website and will include it in tourism marketing material and initiatives.
“We were so impressed with the spirit and creativity of our local youth and their passion for tourism in our community. This a great example of how those in our community can be our best ambassadors,” said Julia Crowder, Manager of Economic Development and Tourism.
