Economic Development Week 2025

WHEREAS Economic Development Week is an international campaign established bythe International Economic Development Council (IEDC) is an annual event dedicatedto highlighting the pivotal role economic development plays in fostering vibrant andsustainable communities worldwide; and

WHEREAS economic development is the programs, policies, and activities that seek toimprove the economic wellbeing and quality of life for a community by creating andretaining jobs and providing a stable tax base; and

WHEREAS economic development is a vital component to our success as aninternationally competitive and supportive municipality for businesses; and

WHEREAS we leverage strong partnerships with the Smiths Falls and District Chamberof Commerce, Smiths Falls Downtown Business Association, Small Business AdvisoryCentre, Valley Hartland Community Futures Development Corporation, and our otherEconomic Development organizations who work together with the Town to foster a
thriving and prosperous community.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, Shawn Pankow, Mayor of the Town ofSmiths Falls, do hereby proclaim May 11th to May 17th, 2025 as Economic DevelopmentWeek in The Town of Smiths Falls.
