Female Arrested – Warrant:

On August 12th 2024, the Smiths Falls Police Service executed an arrest warrant on a 19 year old Smiths Falls female stemming from several incidents between Jan 2024 and April 2024. The accused female was arrested at the station without incident.

The accused was held in Police custody awaiting a bail hearing to answer to her charges.

FRAUD WARNING:

On August 12^th 2024, Smiths Falls Police Service received an investment fraud/scam. The victim reportedly lost in excess of $80,000.

The Smiths Falls Police want to warn the public to protect themselves. Contact their banks, don’t engage in investment emails and DO NOT buy gift cards and send them to individuals you may speak to. No agency or establishment will ask for gift cards as a means of investment.

Male Arrested for breaching release conditions:

On August 12^th the Smiths Falls Police Service responded to a local residence in the northwest section of town regarding report that a 39 year old male of Smiths Falls was in breach of numerous release and probation conditions by being inside the residence. When the accused was observed by police to be inside the residence, confirming his breach of conditions, he made attempts to flee in effort to evade arrest. The male was immediately arrested and charged accordingly. He was held in Police custody awaiting a bail hearing to answer to his charges.

Break and Enter:

On August 13^th the Smiths Falls Police Service received reports a local business on Beckwith St N had been broken into overnight. The Police Service is looking to the public’s for assistance if they have any information into this break and enter.

Should anyone have any information it can reported by calling the station or making an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers.

Male arrested on Outstanding Warrant for Domestic related Charges:

On August 13^th 2024, the Smiths Falls Police Service working in partnership with OPP ROPE Squad arrested and charged a 29 year old male for domestic-related offences.

The accused was held in Police custody awaiting a bail hearing to answer to his charges.

Male arrested on Outstanding Warrant

On August 14^th the Smiths Falls Police Service made a stop of a 29 year old male while out on his bicycle. The investigation revealed the cyclist had an outstanding warrant for his arrest on relating to charges with the OPP.

Smiths Falls Police executed the warrant and arrested the male and subsequently turned him over to the OPP.

Male Arrested on Domestic Assault Charges

On August 14^th the Smiths Falls Police Service entered into an investigation of a Domestic Assault that occurred the previous evening. Upon completion of that investigation officer located and arrested the 32 year old male and charged him with domestic mischief, domestic assault and breach probation.

The accused was held in Police custody awaiting a bail hearing to answer to his charges.

Male Arrested on Criminal Code Driving Offences

On August 15^th the Smiths Falls Police Service entered into an investigation using the Automated Licence Plate Reader on a marked Police cruiser. The vehicle in question registered with an unattached plate. The officer attempted a traffic stop and the vehicle driver fled. For safety of the public the officer disengaged and did not pursue the fleeing vehicle. A concerned member of the public reported to the officer a matching vehicle had been ditched just outside town. The officer re-engaged in the investigation and found Brett WEBSTER, (30 years) of Smiths Falls with his vehicle. The driver was placed under arrest and charged with multiple criminal code driving offences and Highway traffic act offences including but not limited to, Dangerous operation, flight from police, stunt driving and drive while under suspension.

Mr. Webster was released on a Form 10 Undertaking with a court date to answer to his long list of charges.

Male Arrested Driving Offences

On August 16^th the Smiths Falls Police made an arrest following an investigation that began on July 30^th after a traffic investigation. Based on the conclusion of the investigation a 22 year old male was arrested and charged with Failure to comply with release order, Failure to comply with Probation Order X2, Possession of Controlled Substance, Schedule I and a long list of Highway Traffic Act Offences.

The accused was held in Police custody awaiting a bail hearing to answer to his charges.

Male Arrested on Domestic Assault Charges

On August 17^th the Smiths Falls Police Service entered into an investigation of a Domestic Assault that occurred after an alcohol fueled argument that began at a local establishment. Upon completion of that investigation officer located and arrested the 25 year old male and charged him with domestic assault.

The accused was held in Police custody awaiting a bail hearing to answer to his charges.
