POLICE RESPOND TO MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION WITH INJURIES
On August 1 2024, officers were dispatched to a collision between a scooter and motor vehicle at the intersection of Beckwith Street and William Street. During the investigation, it was learned that a youth operating a scooter had been struck by a vehicle and sustained a leg injury. The youth was transported to hospital in stable condition for medical treatment. A 73 year old female from Smiths Falls was charged with failing to Yield under the Highway Traffic Act.
WEAPONS INCIDENT RESULTS IN CHARGES
On July 27 2024, officers were dispatched to a fight in progress involving weapons on James Street North. Witnesses reported observing a suspect branding a knife and another with an axe. Officers arrived on scene and it was determined that a fight had taken place over money owed. A male was also found at the scene in possession of a knife at the scene and he was subsequently arrested. No one was reported injured as a result of this incident.
Sixty five year old Dennis MOORE of Portland was charged with Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
UNKNOWN TROUBLE CALL LEADS TO IPV RELATED CHARGES
On July 27 2024, the Smiths Falls Police received a 911 call from a crying female in unknown trouble at a residence on Empress Avenue. Officers attended and located a male and female inside. The female was exhibiting obvious injuries to her face and it was eventually learned that she had been assaulted by her male partner and that he had also damaged some of her property. As a result of the investigation, a 32 year old male from Smiths Falls was charged with domestic related assault and mischief. He was subsequently held in custody pending a bail hearing.
FEMALE ARRESTED ON OUTSTANDING WARRANTS
On August 1 2024, the Smiths Falls Police received information that Stephanie HODGE was in the area of Abbott Street. HODGE was wanted by the Smiths Falls Police at the time for Breach of Probation and Theft under $5000. Officers attended and located HODGE on the Abbott Street Bridge. HODGE was subsequently arrested without incident.
SHOPLIFTING INCIDENT LEADS TO DRUG CHARGES
On August 1 2024, officers attended a business on Lombard Street regarding a shoplifting in progress. The suspect was located on arrival and found to be wearing clothing that she had stolen from the business. She was subsequently arrested and found to be in possession of cocaine.
Thirty three year old Kristen MULVILLE of Smiths Falls stands accused of theft under $5000, possession of a schedule 1 substance and failing to comply with a release order. She was held pending a bail hearing.
