AMBULANCE ASSIST CALL LEADS TO CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION
On June 5 2024, the Smiths Falls Police Service responded with ambulance to a Broadview Avenue address regarding a female with injuries. Upon arrival, it was evident to the officers that the female had sustained injuries during a domestic dispute. A 38 year old male was later arrested and charged with Mischief, Assault and Uttering Threats relating to the incident. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
WANTED FEMALE LOCATED
On June 5 2024, an officer on duty observed Brandee DOUGHERTY in the downtown core of Smiths Falls. At the time, there were multiple outstanding warrants for DOUGHERTY relating to shoplifting incidents. After making a brief effort to flee the area on foot, DOUGHERTY was arrested without incident. She was held pending a bail hearing.
MALE ARRESTED FOLLOWING A DOMESTIC INCIDENT
On May 31 2024, the Smiths Falls Police received multiple calls relating to a domestic incident taking place in a parking lot on Lombard Street. Upon arrival, officers located the male and female involved. Through the investigation, it was learned that the male was attempting to forcibly confine the female in a vehicle and had assaulted her.
The male suspect subsequently fled the scene on foot. A short time later, he was located with the assistance of the OPP and taken into custody. The 27 year old male from Ottawa stands accused of Mischief Under $5000, Forcible Confinement, Assault, Assault with a Weapon and Failing to Comply with a Probation Order. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
DISPUTE OVER CIGARETTES LEADS TO CHARGES
On May 31 2024, Smiths Falls Police received a report from a female complainant that her boyfriend had assaulted during a dispute over the ownership of a package of cigarettes. During the dispute, the male assaulted the female and threatened to kill her.
A 28 year old male from Ottawa stands accused of Unlawfully in Dwelling, Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Uttering Threats. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
