Wanted Suspect Arrested Following Theft Investigations -Theft from Vehicle Investigation Results in Charges Following Foot Pursuit
Wanted Subject Arrested
On August 13, 2026, members of the Smiths Falls Police Service, while conducting proactive patrols, located and arrested a wanted individual without incident. The accused was wanted for failing to attend court in relation to a mischief offence that occurred on August 15, 2025.
As a result, the 60-year-old female was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
Smiths Falls Police Assist Smiths Falls Fire Department
On August 17, 2026, the Smiths Falls Police Service received a request for assistance regarding a structure fire at 46 Bell Avenue. Officers attended the scene shortly after receiving the call and learned that members of the Smiths Falls Fire Department (SFFD) had located and rescued an individual from the residence.
SFFD personnel located a 56-year-old male who was unconscious and removed him from the structure before providing lifesaving medical treatment until EMS arrived. The male was transported to hospital and was later confirmed to be in stable condition.
Smiths Falls Police obtained witness statements and reviewed CCTV footage related to the incident. At this time, there is no evidence to suggest the fire was intentionally set.
Wanted Suspect Arrested Following Theft Investigations
On August 18, 2026, members of the Smiths Falls Police Service, while conducting proactive patrols, located and arrested a wanted individual without incident. The accused was wanted in connection with theft investigations that occurred on August 7, 2026, and August 15, 2026.
As a result of the investigation, Kirstyn Jensen, 45, of Smiths Falls, has been charged with:
· Theft under $5,000 x 2
The accused was held in custody pending a scheduled bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice.
Arrest Made Following Routine Traffic Stop
On August 19, 2026, members of the Smiths Falls Police Service were conducting proactive patrols when they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. During the investigation, officers determined that the female driver was in breach of multiple court-imposed conditions.
As a result of the investigation, Danielle Proulx, 61, of Smiths Falls, has been charged with the following offences:
· Failure to comply with an undertaking x 3
· Possession of a Schedule I substance x 2
· Possession of property obtained by crime x 1
The accused was held in custody pending a scheduled bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice.
Arrest Made Following Intimate Partner Violence Investigation
On August 21, 2026, the Smiths Falls Police Service received a report of an intimate partner violence incident. Officers arrived within five minutes of receiving the call and immediately commenced an investigation.
As a result of the investigation, an 18-year-old male has been charged with:
· Failure to comply with a release order x 3
The accused was held in custody pending a scheduled bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice.
Wanted Suspect Arrested in Theft Investigation
On August 21, 2026, members of the Smiths Falls Police Service, while conducting proactive patrols, located and arrested a wanted male without incident. The accused was wanted in connection with a theft investigation that occurred on July 12, 2026.
As a result of the investigation, Tyler Pretty, 38, of Smiths Falls, has been charged with the following offences:
· Theft under $5,000 (shoplifting) x 1
· Failure to comply with a probation order x 3
The accused was held in custody pending a scheduled bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice.
Theft from Vehicle Investigation Results in Charges Following Foot Pursuit
On August 29, 2026, the Smiths Falls Police Service received a report of four males allegedly attempting to gain access to parked vehicles on Lombard Street. Officers attended the area within minutes and located four individuals matching the provided descriptions. Upon seeing police, the individuals fled on foot.
Police engaged in a brief foot pursuit and safely took one male into custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old male from Smiths Falls has been charged with:
· Theft under $5,000 x 1
· Failure to comply with an undertaking x 1
The accused was subsequently released from custody on conditions and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
The investigation remains ongoing as police continue efforts to identify and locate the three other males involved.
The charges in these matters have not been proven in court.
