Bike Night

The Smiths Falls Police Service is aware of inaccurate information that has recently been circulating widely across various social media and mainstream media platforms regarding the Smiths Falls Bike Night event.

For clarity, the Smiths Falls Police Service remains fully committed to ensuring a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable event for everyone in attendance. We continue to work collaboratively with the Downtown Business Improvement Association (DBIA) toward this shared objective. As a law enforcement organization, we take our responsibility for public safety and security seriously. To that end, we ensure that a robust and sound operational plan is developed and implemented for events of this nature where significant crowds are present. Our members greatly enjoy being part of this incredible community event and look forward to participating, as we have since the inaugural Bike Night event last June.

We would also like to provide further clarification regarding recent claims concerning the DBIA.

The Smiths Falls Police Service did not force the resignation of any member of the Downtown Business Improvement Association. As a police service, we have absolutely no authority or obligation to request or demand the resignation of any member of a volunteer association. Since the beginning of Bike Night, we have worked cohesively alongside the DBIA and have consistently taken — and continue to take — a balanced approach that considers safety, security, and the overall enjoyment of this exceptional community event.
