Police Arrest Two and Firearms Seized in Threats Investigation

On April 28, 2026, Smiths Falls Police received information regarding threats posted online that raised concerns for public safety. An investigation was promptly initiated, and the suspect was arrested at their residence without incident. Firearms were also located within the residence and seized as part of the investigation.

As a result, 31-year-old Peter HARRIS-MCGREGOR of Smiths Falls has been charged with uttering threats (x1), careless storage of a firearm, ammunition (x2), possession of weapon for dangerous purpose (x1), and unauthorized possession of firearm (x1). The accused was held in custody pending a bail court appearance.

Further investigation identified the owner of the firearms, who subsequently attended the police station and turned himself in. 38-year-old Joey HARRIS of Carleton Place stands charged with breach of firearms regulation (x1). The accused was later released from custody on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.     

Male Facing Robbery and Assault Charges Following Dispute Over Milk Prices

On April 27, 2026, the Smiths Falls Police Service received a report of an assault that had occurred at a local convenience store. Officers attended the scene and initiated an investigation. It was determined that an irate customer, upset over the price of chocolate milk, began throwing items within the store. The individual left the premises but later returned, continuing their disruptive behavior by throwing containers of chocolate milk and deliberately causing damage to the store. Through the use of surveillance footage, investigators were able to identify the suspect. On April 30, 2026, the individual surrendered to police without incident.

As a result of the investigation, 67-year-old Alexander EVANS of Smiths Falls stands charged with robbery with intent (x1), assault with a weapon (x1) and mischief under $5000. The accused was later released from custody with conditions and a scheduled court date.

Commercial Truck Driver Charged with Stunt Driving

On May 1, 2026, a member of the Smiths Falls Police Service conducting proactive traffic enforcement observed a 7.5-ton commercial truck travelling at a high rate of speed. Using LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology, the officer recorded the vehicle travelling at 93 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone. A traffic stop was initiated.

As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested and charged with stunt driving under the Highway Traffic Act. The vehicle was impounded, and the driver received an immediate 30-day licence suspension. The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Residential Dispute Leads to Charge

On May 1, 2026, the Smiths Falls Police Service received a report of a family dispute that had just occurred at a residence. Officers attended the scene and initiated an investigation. Upon arrival, it was determined that one individual had sustained minor injuries. Police were able to identify a suspect, who subsequently agreed to surrender to officers without incident.

As a result of the investigation, a 52-year-old resident of Smiths Falls has been charged with assault. The accused was later released from custody on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Arrest Made in IPV Investigation Involving Tattoo Machine

On May 2, 2026, the Smiths Falls Police Service received a 9-1-1 call reporting an active intimate partner violence (IPV) incident. Officers attended the residence and initiated an investigation. Upon arrival, police determined that one individual had sustained minor injuries after being struck and marked with a tattoo machine. A suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old female from Smiths Falls stands charged with assault with a weapon. The accused was held in custody for a bail court appearance. 

Driver Arrested After Fleeing Police

On May 9, 2026, the Smiths Falls Police Service received a traffic complaint regarding a potentially impaired motorcycle driver. Shortly after receiving the complaint, an officer located the motorcycle in the downtown core and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver failed to stop and fled from police. No pursuit was initiated in the interest of public safety. Through continued investigation, officers were able to successfully identify the driver. On May 14, 2026, the individual surrendered to police without incident.

As a result of the investigation, 34-year-old Justin DONOVAN-BIOSCOPE of Smiths falls stands charged with flight from police officer, failing to comply with their probation order and additional provincial charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act. The accused was later released from custody with conditions and a scheduled court date.

IPV Investigation Leads to Charge

On May 14, 2026, the Smiths Falls Police Service received a report of an intimate partner violence (IPV) incident in progress. Officers attended a residence and initiated an investigation. Upon arrival, one individual was taken into custody at the scene without incident.

As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old Smiths Falls resident has been charged with assault. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Two Facing Assault Charges After Disturbance

On May 12, 2026, the Smiths Falls Police Service received information regarding a physical disturbance that had occurred inside a residence on May 9, 2026, in Smiths Falls. Officers initiated an investigation into the incident.

As a result of the investigation, both parties involved were arrested without incident. Maria CAMPBELL, age 25, and Tiffany WYNN, age 39, both residents of Montague Township, have each been charged with assault causing bodily harm. The accused were later released from custody on conditions and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

The charges in these matters have not been proven in court.
