Suspect Arrested in Mischief Investigation
On March 30, 2026, the Smiths Falls Police Service made an arrest in connection with a mischief investigation.
The investigation began on February 20, 2026, following reports of intentional damage to facilities at multiple municipal buildings. It is alleged that the suspect entered washroom facilities and deliberately blocked sewage drains using foreign objects, including diapers, resulting in damage and service disruptions.
Through the review of surveillance footage, police were able to successfully identify the suspect, which led to the arrest.
As a result of the investigation, 38-year-old Brian STINSON of Perth stands charged with criminal mischief (x2). The accused was later released from custody with conditions and a scheduled court date.
Charges Laid After Department Store Dispute
On March 31, 2026, the Smiths Falls Police Service responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a possible assault at a local department store. Officers attended the scene and initiated an investigation. A suspect was promptly identified and arrested at the scene without further incident.
As a result of the investigation, 24-year-old Kory GUYEA of Smiths Falls stands charged with assault (x1), uttering threats (x1) and failing to comply wit their probation order (x1). The accused was later released with conditions and a scheduled court date.
Suspect Surrenders to Police After Making Online Threats
On April 3, 2026, the Smiths Falls Police Service commenced an investigation after becoming aware of an exchange of online threats between two individuals. The suspect was identified and later surrendered to police without incident.
As a result of the investigation, 33-year-old Tiffany CALGEY of Smiths Falls stands charged with uttering threats (x1). The accused was later released from custody with conditions and a scheduled court date.
Arrest Made in Breach Investigation
On April 7, 2026, the Smiths Falls Police Service received information regarding a possible breach of court ordered conditions at a local residence. Officers attended the residence to initiate an investigation. The suspect was located at the scene and subsequently arrested without incident.
As a result of the investigation 46-year-old Shawn WOODCOCK stands charged with failing to comply with their probation order (x2) and additionally charged provincially in relation to trespassing. The accused was held in custody pending a bail court appearance.
OPP Renfrew County Assist SFPS in Locating Wanted Suspect
On April 10, 2026, the Smiths Falls Police Service, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police Renfrew County, arrested a male who was wanted on charges stemming from a December 2025 intimate partner violence investigation.
As a result of the investigation, a 51-year-old male stands charged with assault (x2), failing to comply with their probation order (x1) and unlawfully in dwelling (x1). The accused was held in custody pending a bail court appearance.
Arrest Made in Shoplift Investigation
On April 12, 2026, the Smiths Falls Police Service located and arrested a suspect wanted in connection with a shoplifting investigation from April 9, 2026. Police were able to successfully identify the suspect using retail store security camera footage.
As a result of the investigation 42-year-old Anthony HENDERSON of Smiths Falls stands charged with theft under $5000 (x1). The accused was later released with conditions and a scheduled court date.
IPV Investigation Leads to Arrest
On April 13, 2026, the Smiths Falls Police Service commenced an investigation into an intimate partner violence incident. Officers located the suspect and subsequently placed them under arrest without incident.
As a result of the investigation, a 61-year-old male from Ottawa stands charged with assault cause bodily harm (x1) and assault (x3). The accused was held in custody pending a bail court appearance.
The charges in these matters have not been proven in court.
