Multiple Impaired Charges Laid- Porch Pirate Arrested -Theft Suspected Charged

Porch pirate suspect surrenders to police

On March 6, 2026, an individual surrendered themselves to the Smiths Falls Police Service in relation to outstanding charges. The suspect was wanted in connection with the theft of packages from a local residence. The investigation identified the individual through footage obtained from the homeowner’s security cameras.

As a result of the investigation, 48-year-old Bryan MORDY of Smiths Falls stands charged with theft under $5000 (x1) and breach of their recognizance (x1). The accused was later released with conditions and a scheduled court date.

Trespasser arrested at old water tower

On March 6, 2026, the Smiths Falls Police Service received a 9-1-1 call reporting an individual climbing the old water tower. Officers were dispatched to the area and quickly located the suspect, who was arrested without incident. The subsequent investigation determined that the individual had intentionally caused damage to equipment at the site.

As a result of the investigation, 36-year-old Benjamin DUAHMEL of Smiths Falls stands charged with mischief (x2) and was additionally charged provincially for trespassing. The accused was later released from custody with conditions and a scheduled court date.

Traffic stop leads to impaired charges

On March 6, 2026, a member of the Smiths Falls Police Service conducted a traffic stop in response to observed driving behaviour. The driver was arrested at the scene without incident after failing an Approved Screening Device (ASD) test.

As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old from Perth stands charged with operation while impaired (x1) and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg (x1) and multiple provincial offences in relation to the highway traffic act. The accused was later released with conditions and a scheduled court date.

Kingston Police assist in arrest of suspect sought by Smiths Falls Police

On March 10, 2026, the Smiths Falls Police Service, with assistance from Kingston Police, arrested a suspect who was wanted in connection with an ongoing theft investigation. The investigation began on November 21, 2025, after Smiths Falls Police received a report that a victim’s purse had been stolen from their vehicle overnight.

As a result of the investigation, 32-year-old Joseph PELLETIER of Kingston stands charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x1) and use of credit card (x7). The accused was later released with conditions and a scheduled court date.

Mischief charge laid following nuisance animal noise complaint

On March 14, 2026, a suspect connected to a mischief investigation surrendered to police without incident. The individual was wanted in relation to allegations that a continuously barking dog was interfering with the peaceful enjoyment of a neighbouring property. Animal Welfare Services were also notified regarding the matter.

As a result of the investigation, 24-year-old Britlee WATTS of Smiths Falls stands charged with mischief (x1). The accused was held in custody for a bail court appearance.

Two facing charges after using lost debit card

On March 15, 2026, Smiths Falls Police officers conducting proactive patrols located and arrested a suspect who was wanted in connection with outstanding theft related charges. The following day, March 16, 2026, a second suspect attended the police station and surrendered without incident. Both individuals were sought in an investigation involving a victim’s lost credit card, which was used multiple times after it went missing.

As a result of the investigation, 48-year-old Bryan MORDY of Smiths Falls stands charged with use of credit card (x2). 35-year-old Amanda FRASER of Smiths Falls stands charged with use of credit card (x1). The accused were later released with conditions and a scheduled court date.

Two drivers arrested for impairment after motor vehicle collision

On March 15, 2026, Smiths Falls Police responded to a report of a two vehicle collision. Upon arrival, officers initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Both drivers were subsequently arrested at the scene for impairment after each failed an Approved Screening Device (ASD) test.

As a result of the investigation, 34-year-old Brody RODFORD of Merrickville stands charged with operation while impaired (x1) and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg (x1). 35-year-old Lauren PIOTROWSKI of Ottawa stands charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand (x1). The accused were later released with conditions and a scheduled court date.

Driver arrested on traffic stop

On March 17, 2026, a member of the Smiths Falls Police Service conducted a traffic stop in response to observed driving behaviour. The driver was arrested at the scene without incident after failing an Approved Screening Device (ASD) test.

As a result of the investigation, 42-year-old Heng LIE of North York stands charged with operation while impaired (x1) and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg (x1) and multiple provincial offences. The accused was later released with conditions and a scheduled court date.

 

The charges in these matters have not been proven in court.
