Drug and weapon charges laid as a result of traffic stop -One arrested after attempting to flee on bicycle
Wanted suspect arrested in B-E Investigation
On February 13th, 2026, members of the Smiths Falls Police were on proactive patrol when they observed a suspect known to be wanted on an outstanding warrant. The suspect was arrested by the officers without incident. The suspect was wanted from a January 21st break-enter investigation.
As a result of the investigation, 42-year-old Shawn HISHON stands charged with break, enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence (x1). The accused was later released with conditions and a scheduled court date.
OPP ROPE assist SFPS with arrest in Brockville
On February 18th 2026, OPP ROPE (Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement) assisted SFPS by locating and arresting a wanted suspect in the city of Brockville. The suspect was wanted from a February 7th Intimate Partner Violence investigation.
As a result of the investigation, a 20-year-old male from Brockville stands charged with breach of recognizance (x1), criminal harassment (x1), failing to comply with their probation order (x3) and failing to comply with their bail release order (x1). The accused was held in custody for a bail court hearing.

On February 18th, 2026, members of the Smiths Falls Police on proactive patrol received an ALPR (Automatic Licence Plate Recognition) hit for a suspended driver. A vehicle traffic stop was initiated. The driver was uncooperative with officers on scene and subsequently arrested.
As a result of the investigation, 53-year-old Leonard DONOVAN of Smiths Falls stands charged with obstruct peace officer (x1), assault peace officer (x1), resist peace officer (x1), possession of schedule I substance (x1), unauthorized possession of weapon (x1) and failing to comply with their recognizance (x2). The accused was later released from custody with conditions and a scheduled court date.
One arrested after attempting to flee on bicycle
On February 21st, 2026, members of the Smiths Falls Police while on patrol observed a suspect known to police to be on house arrest conditions. The suspect attempted to flee on their bicycle but fell off the bicycle after travelling a short distance. The suspect was subsequently arrested.
As a result of the investigation, 45-year-old James MORRIS of Smiths Falls stands charged with failing to comply with their bail release order (x1), resist peace officer (x1), failing to comply with probation order (x1) and multiple highway traffic act violations. The accused was held in custody for a bail court hearing.
Two surrender to police after multiple shoplift investigations
On February 21st, 2026, two suspects attended the Smiths Falls Police Sation to surrender on outstanding charges. The charges were laid as a result of two shoplift investigations in town.
As a result of the investigations, 36-year-old Donald CAMPBELL and 18-year-old Dante HENDERSON of Smiths Falls stand charged with theft under $5000 (x2) and mischief under $5000 (x1). The accused were later released with conditions and a scheduled court date.
Shoplifter arrested
On February 23rd, 2026, members of the Smiths Falls Police located a subject known to be wanted on outstanding charges. The subject was arrested without incident. The charges were from a January 26th, shoplift investigation.
As a result of the investigation, 40-year-old Brandee DOUGHERTY of Smiths Falls stands charged with theft under $5000 (x1), disguise with intent (x1), and failing to comply with their probation order (x3). The accused was held in custody for a bail court hearing.
Wanted suspect arrested on traffic stop
On February 24th, 20206 members of the Smiths Falls Police began a traffic investigation and located a passenger who is known to police to have an outstanding warrant. The passenger was arrested at the scene without incident.
As a result of the investigation, 39-year-old Dennis DAYE was held in custody for a bail court hearing. The warrant was issued by the courts due to the accused failing to appear in court on previous charges.
Arrest made as a result of traffic stop
On February 24th, 2026, members of Smiths Falls Police initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle. It was learned that the driver was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle and was subsequently arrested at the scene.
As a result of the investigation, 41-year-old Ashley POWERS of Smiths Falls stands charged with operation while prohibited (x1), possession of schedule I substance (x1) and multiple provincial offences in relation to the highway traffic act. The accused was later released from custody with a scheduled court date.
Male facing multiple charges
On February 27th, 2026, Smiths Falls Police received information of a theft that occurred from a local business. Members of the Smiths Falls Police commenced the investigation and were able to identify the suspect through the store’s surveillance camera footage.
On March 1st, 2026, Smiths Falls Police attended a residence for an unrelated incident where the same suspect was unwanted and no longer on a valid bail release order. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Smiths Falls Police Station. While in police custody the suspect proceeded to cause damage to the police station holding cells, which lead to further charges.
As a result of the investigation, 25-year-old Brock VISSER stands charged with theft under $5000 (x1), mischief under $5000 (x1), indecent act (x1) and failing to comply with their probation order (x4). The accused held in custody for a bail court hearing.
Wanted suspect arrested after trespassing
On February 27th, 2026, Smiths Falls Police received information of a suspect trespassing on the train tracks. Police responded to the area and arrested the suspect without incident. Once the suspect was identified, it was learned that the male was also wanted on outstanding warrants.
As a result of the investigation, 39-year-old Cody LASCELLE was charged provincially under the Trespass to Property Act and the Railway Safety Act. The accused also stands charged failing to comply with their probation order (x1) from a February 10th probation officer investigation. The accused was later released with conditions and a scheduled court date.
Intimate Partner Violence leads to arrest
On February 27th, 2026, Smiths Falls Police commenced an investigation into reports of intimate partner violence. Members of the Smiths Police located and arrested the suspect.
As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old male from Smiths Falls stands charged with assault (x2) and mischief under $5000 (x1). The accused was held in custody for a bail court hearing.
Intimate Partner Violence dispute leads to arrest
On February 28th, 2026, Smiths Falls Police received a 9-1-1 call for a heated intimate partner violence dispute. Members responded to the scene immediately to commence the investigation. One person was taken into custody at the scene.
As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old male stands charged with mischief under $5000 (x1). The accused was held in custody for a bail court hearing.
Traffic complaint leads to impaired charges
On February 28th, 2026, Smiths Falls Police received a 9-1-1 call regarding a suspect vehicle driving erratically and believed to be impaired. Members of the Smiths Falls Police responded to the area and successfully located the vehicle. A traffic investigation commenced, and the driver was subsequently arrested.
As a result of the investigation, 19-year-old Conner GABRIEL of Lanark stands charged with operation while impaired (x1), operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg (x1) and operation while prohibited (x1). The accused was later released with conditions and a scheduled court date.
The charges in these matters have not been proven in court.
