Town Square Project

The Town Square Project began in May 2021 and reached completion in June 2023, thanks to the generous support and funding from the Canada Community Revitalization Fund, Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, and a donation from the Foulkes Family. Additionally, the Rideau Environmental Action League's contributions facilitated the depaving of the former section of Daniel Street. The project encompassed various enhancements, including:

  • Removal of Daniel street to create more green space.
  • A newly constructed accessible outdoor performance space.
  • New Park Benches.
  • Paved Accessible Pathways
  • Pebble mosaic created by ReDefine Arts in collaboration with Lanark County Interval House & Community Support.
  • Landscaping and Butterfly Gardens

On Friday, July 28th at 11:30am the Town of Smiths Falls invited members of the community, MPP John Jordan, Town Council and staff to join in the grand opening of the Town Square project.  The full Media Release can be found here.

Note: The Corporation of the Town of Smiths Falls received $750,000 in funding from the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency of Southern Ontario (FedDevOntario). This funding, allocated under the Canada Community Revitalization Fund, supported the project to connect the Town of Smiths Falls Library and Town Hall campus. The initiative resulted in the creation of green space, outdoor performance areas, and leisure spaces.
