Town of Smiths Falls Comprehensive Zoning By-law Review
Online Public Open House – March 24, 2022
The Town of Smiths Falls initiated a review of its Comprehensive Zoning By-law in June 2021. The process will result in a new Zoning By-law that will replace the Town’s current Zoning By- law (No. 6080-94), as amended, which was first adopted by Council in 1994.
Why is the Town reviewing its Zoning By-law?
The Town’s Zoning By-law is required to implement the land use policies set out in the Town’s 2016 Official Plan. There is also a need to implement key zoning-related recommendations from recent municipal documents, including the Downtown Parking Management and Regulations Study and Housing Task Force Report.
The Zoning By-law Review provides an opportunity to modernize the Town’s zoning requirements, with consideration for new or revised definitions, zones, and development standards (e.g., building, lot, and parking requirements) to support the vision for future development in Smiths Falls.
You’re invited to attend an Online Public Open House to learn more about the process, how zoning affects your property, and how to provide input.

When: Thursday, March 24, 2022, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Format: The Online Public Open House will consist of:
- A brief presentation by the Town’s project consultant, WSP, including a summary of the proposed changes for the Town’s new Zoning By-law;
- Question-and-answer session where Town staff and WSP will be available to answer questions and obtain
The Online Public Open House presents an opportunity for all members of the community to be involved in the Zoning By-law Review and provide input.
