Significant Weather Event declared on January 17, 2022 has now ended

Please be advised that the Significant Weather Event declared by the Town of Smiths Falls on January 17, 2022 related to winter maintenance operations has now ended. This declaration is made pursuant to Ontario Regulation 239/02, Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways.

The Town would like to thank the residents and business owners of Smiths Falls for their patience while Public Works operations staff performed snow clearing and removal operations on roadways and sidewalks throughout the town during and following this significant weather event.

“This recent significant winter storm caused for operations staff to have to work tireless hours over the last 11 days, both through the nighttime hours and on weekends away from their families, and for that we are grateful,” said Paul McMunn, Director of Public Works and Utilities.
