Shinny rink permitted at Gerry Lowe outdoor rink
Following consultation with the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit, the Town of Smiths Falls has confirmed provincial regulations allow the Town of Smiths Falls’ Gerry Lowe outdoor skating rink to open for shinny along with public skating. This permitted use will be effective immediately, and will continue for as long as mother nature cooperates with the ice making process and provincial restrictions allow. A shinny schedule will be released in the coming days.
Due to provincial COVID-19 restrictions, the rink will operate at a reduced capacity with a maximum of 25 people. The hours of use will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Users are required to wear masks and maintain social distancing. Any shinny is to be non-contact.
Individuals are also required to self-assess before attending public activities and to stay home if feeling ill.
The Town will provide updates when the facility is unavailable however the weather forecast for the next few days shows temperatures well below freezing.
Washrooms are NOT available at this time, as per provincial regulations.
