Public Notice: Council supports Health Unit resolution for face coverings
July 7, 2020
Supporting Resolution/ Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit Regional Approach to Face Coverings/Masks
At a meeting of Council on Monday, July 6, 2020, the Council of Smiths Falls approved a resolution to support the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit’s regional approach to make face coverings mandatory in enclosed public spaces.
The resolution is as follows:
THAT the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Smiths Falls supports the Medical Officer of Health from the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit on the regional approach to the use of face coverings/masks in enclosed public places within their jurisdiction.
AND THAT evidence shows that wearing a mask or face covering, such as a bandana, scarf or cloth that covers the mouth and nose, can help contain the spread of COVID-19 when used in combination with staying home when ill, frequent handwashing and practicing physical distancing.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Council and staff at the Town of Smiths Falls will work with our Health Unit to promote and educate businesses and the public on this important approach.
