Public Notice: Community Improvement Plan public information centre planned for May 17

Community Improvement Plan for the Downtown, Waterfront, and Affordable Housing

The Town of Smiths Falls will be holding a Public Information Centre (PIC) to introduce the Community Improvement Plan (CIP) project. The intent of the CIP project is to identify priorities and develop financial incentives for three separate objectives:

(i) create more affordable housing,

(ii) revitalize the downtown and waterfront, and,

(iii) encourage the redevelopment and rehabilitation of underutilized but potentially contaminated properties commonly referred to as ‘brownfields’.

Please note: Due to continuing efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 and to protect individuals, the meeting will be held virtually.

The purpose of the PIC is to provide the public with an opportunity to learn about the CIP project and offer their insight on areas or sites of interest. The feedback received during this PIC will help the Town prepare the CIP, which will be presented to the public at a later date.

You are invited to participate in the PIC by attending electronically via virtual meeting. The session will include a presentation about the CIP project and the results of some preliminary research on affordable housing, downtown and waterfront revitalization, and brownfield redevelopment in Smiths Falls.  There will also be a question-and-answer session, as well as an opportunity to express your early interest in the forthcoming financial incentive programs.

The PIC will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM virtually via Zoom. To register, please contact Karl Grenke, Senior Planner using the contact details below.
