Lanark Community Programs and Rideau Community Health Services partner with the Town of Smiths Falls to offer grocery delivery to clients of the Smiths Falls Community Food Bank during the declared COVID-19 emergency

Smiths Falls – Lanark Community Programs, a part of Lanark Renfrew Health & Community Services, is partnering with the Town of Smiths Falls and Rideau Community Health Services to launch a pilot program designed to provide grocery delivery to individuals and families being supported by the Smiths Falls Community Food Bank.

Carol Anne McNeil, Family Relief Director of Lanark Community Programs said “We are proud to be able to join with community partners in Smiths Falls to support the effort to make food more accessible and encourage more people to stay home and stay safe during the Covid-19 emergency”.

The pilot project, led by Lanark Community Programs with support from the Town of Smiths Falls and Rideau Community Health Services, is available to individuals and families who are Smiths Falls Food Bank clients and will enable them to stay home during the Town of Smiths Falls declared COVID-19 emergency. This pilot will begin with delivery on Wednesday afternoons and the number of delivery days could be increased depending upon use of the service.

This work with community stakeholders supports individuals to access the services of the Smiths Falls Food Bank while staying home and staying healthy” said Michele Bellows, Chief Executive Officer of Rideau Community Health Service.
This partnership seeks to support those needing assistance in these unusual times and ensures all of the citizens of the Town of Smiths Falls are able to safely have access to nutritious food.
