Town of Smiths Falls declares significant weather event, delays to winter maintenance

Due to significant snowfall and high winds causing blizzard-like conditions, as of Monday, Jan. 17, 2022 at 11 a.m. the Town of Smiths Falls is declaring a significant weather event.

The declaration of a significant weather event suspends timelines normally required for the Town of Smiths Falls to meet winter maintenance objectives. Please note until the significant weather event has ended, it may take longer than usual to maintain roads, sidewalks and walkways.

The Town of Smiths Falls will announce when the declaration for the significant weather event has ended.

Please be patient and provide Public Works operations staff time and space to perform snow clearing operations.

Please note that winter parking restrictions are currently in effect in the Town of Smiths Falls between 12 a.m. and 7 a.m.

For further information on the declaration of significant weather events, follow this link to Ontario Regulation 239/02: https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/020239.
