Smiths Falls Community Centre complex to reopen in stages, beginning Sept. 21

The Town of Smiths Falls is pleased to announce the Smiths Falls Community Centre complex will be opening to the public once again.

There will be a staggered reopening: the Community Centre ice pad will open Sept. 21; the Youth Arena ice pad will open Sept. 28; and the walking concourse and meeting rooms on the second floor of the community centre will open Oct. 5.

“We’re excited to be able to safely reopen the community centre complex to the public,” said Art Manhire, Director of Community Services. “We’re looking forward to seeing skaters on the ice again this fall.”

As per provincial reopening guidelines, all rules and regulations relating to COVID-19 safety protocols will be enforced within the facilities, along with local health unit guidelines. Masks will be required when in the facility and not engaged in physical exercise.

Community Centre and public health staff will monitor the safety protocols in place to protect patrons, the public, and Town staff. A failure to comply with regulations which puts the health of the community at risk could result in enhanced restrictions or the renewed closure of the facility.

Ice times have been made available for new reservations for eligible user groups with COVID-19 protocols in place. To rent a meeting space or book available ice, please contact Tana Torch at ttorch@smithsfalls.ca or 613-283-4124 ext. 6103.
