Public Notice: Parking restrictions on Beckwith Street Oct. 23

October 21, 2020

Personal vehicles will not be permitted to park on Beckwith Street in front of residences or businesses on Friday, Oct. 23 due to the installation of asphalt.

Police will be on site to assist with vehicle removal as necessary.

Please make alternative parking arrangements as is necessary.


October 5, 2020 Town Hall Front Reception Area Closed

NOTICE – The Town of Smiths Falls front service counter will be closed on Monday October 5th, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. due to construction.  There will be no access to the building through the front door.  Reception will still receive inquiries via telephone during this time.
The front counter will re-open to the public at 1 p.m.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Public Notice: Russell Street reopens and William Street closure begins May 28

ROAD OPENING – The west leg of Russell Street (Shoppers Drug Mart) will reopen to traffic at Beckwith Street on Thursday, May 28th.

ROAD CLOSURES – The west leg of William Street (at Rideau Hotel) will be closed at Beckwith Street beginning Thursday, May 28th.  This closure will be in place for approximately two weeks and is required to facilitate necessary water, sewer and drainage works in this leg of the intersection.

On Saturday December 8, 2018, Daniel Street will be closed from Beckwith Street to Elmsley Street. The street will be closed from 12 noon until approximately 7 p.m. (following the Santa Claus parade).

2018 Budget Guide

The 2018 Budget Guide was compiled as a tool to help inform the public on the budget process.  There will also be a pre-budget open house, which will be held, Wednesday, November 8th @7:00 (Community Centre, upstairs hall) which will serve as a forum for residents to provide feedback prior to the commencement of the 2018 budget deliberations.  It is important to note that residents are more than welcome to attend our budget meetings which will be held at the Town hall in the Council Chambers.  Please watch our website for dates and times.

The Swans are Coming!! – July 2017

The Town made the decision to release two swans in the upper basin in the hopes of discouraging geese from nesting and to make the basin an even more beautiful place to visit.
