Animal Control

Animal Control Services are for domestic animals in the Town of Smiths Falls and can be accessed by calling 1-844-541-3213.  Occurences outside the Town limits are the responsibility of (North & East) Twp. of Montague; (West) Twp. Drummond North Elmsley or (South) Twp. Rideau Lakes.

Cruelty to animals is the responsibility of the Ontario SPCA at 1-888-668-7722 (for emergencies during weekends or evenings dial ext. 1)

Animal Control Enforcement Officers - 1-844-541-3213

Animal Control Officers respond to and investigate complaints that are related to the care and control of domestic animals, including dogs off leash, keeping of animals, nuisance barking, number of pets per household, registration and fees, stray cats and dogs, dog bites, prohibited animals, etc.  If you can safely apprehend the animal they stand a better chance of surviving. To help get an injured or lost animal back safely please licence, chip or affix identification to the collar.

Registration: All dogs and cats must be registered with the Town and have a tag affixed to the animal. This includes inside dogs, dogs that never leave the property, dogs that are small etc. The fine for not being registered is $65.00 plus the cost of the tag. Officers will be canvassing all homes this year to check for tags. Avoid the $95.00 plus costs by getting your tag now.

ALL WILD animal concerns please call Ministry Natural Resources at 1-800-667-1940. Animals dead on Town property call 613-283-4124 ext.0. Animal dead on private property or Parks Canada, MTO, MNR, MOEE, CPR, VIA are the property owner's responsibility.
