Wastewater/Water Treatment Plants
The Town of Smiths Falls owns and operates one water treatment plant and one wastewater treatment plant, as well as an elevated tower, reservoirs, watermains, sanitary sewers and pumping stations.
Every time you turn on the tap, flush the toilet, or water the garden, you are using water provided by the Sensational Town of Smiths Falls. When you flush a toilet, take a shower, or do the laundry, the water has to go somewhere. The water now called wastewater flows into the sanitary sewer system, which is then treated at the wastewater treatment plant. All wastewater is treated before it is returned to the Rideau River.
