Taxes

Your property taxes are calculated by multiplying the assessed value of your property and the combined municipal and education rates.

The Town of Smiths Falls sends two tax bills a year. The Interim Billing is sent at the end of January and is based on 50 per cent of the prior year’s final taxes. There are two instalments due on the last business day of February and April.

The Final Billing reflects any changes in your assessment and the tax rate. It is usually sent out by the end of May. There are two instalments due on the last business day of June and August.

Everyone receives a Final Tax Bill regardless of how the taxes are paid.

Keep the Final Tax Bill for your files. A $15 fee is charged for confirmation of tax amounts levied.

How do I pay taxes?

The 10-month plan begins in November of each year. A schedule of payments is sent before the end of November.

The due date plan begins in February of each year with payments withdrawn on each of the four due dates.
