Rideau Survivorship Foundation
Opening its doors on March 12, 2011 in the loft above Vickie's Specialty Shop at 14 Main Street West, Smiths Falls -- Vickie generously donated the space -- Rideau Survivorship Foundation will be offering the following services to people in the local community suffering from cancer or other chronic illnesses:
- Library available to read the latest information on whatever you are dealing with;
- Computer access to access trusted discussion forums and browse links to the most up-to-date information on treatments, studies and services;
- Programs such as Look Good, Feel Better;
- Restorative yoga sessions;
- Meeting area for support groups;
- Assistance in finding financial assistance;
- Peer support for survivors by survivors (private consultations by appointment).
Mastectomy clothing and accessories are available downstairs in Vickie's Specialty Shop.
Referrals can also be made by the Rideau Survivorship Foundation to local resources such as a wig boutique with private service, a registered physiotherapist specializing in lymphatic drainage for post-surgery issues, local organizations offering support that meets the needs of foundation clients, as well as a chiropractor, dietitian and naturopath.
