September 29th Multicultural Day to celebrate Smiths Falls area’s cultural diversity
19/09/12
The Smiths Falls area is home to people from many different countries of the world.
On Saturday, September 29th, residents of the local area and beyond will get to experience the food and culture of some of these countries through a Multicultural Day being organized by the Smiths Falls Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) Council.
Smiths Falls is one of 35 LIP communities in Ontario funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). The Town of Smiths Falls is the project partner.
The Multicultural Day is being held in conjunction with Culture Days, a collaborative volunteer movement across Canada aimed at raising “the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities.” This is the second year Culture Days has been held locally with events on Sept. 28 to 30 being co-ordinated by the Smiths Falls and District Arts & Culture Council.
For more information on the Multicultural Day, contact Dianne Pinder-Moss, LIP Coordinator, at 613-283-4124, ext. 1184 (dpindermoss@smithsfalls.ca) or Amber Coville, Project Assistant, at 613-283-4124, ext. 1164 (acoville@smithsfalls.ca).
